The Story
The summer between sophomore and junior year, I moved from Fort Lee to Tenafly. I have three brothers,
two of them younger than me, and a younger sister, so I helped my father and older brother assemble a lot of
furniture throughout the house. It took my father and me well over four hours to assemble a bed; I immediately
realized that, if a video showing someone assembling the bed was provided, it would be significantly easier to
understand the instructions.
After some research, I began writing a business plan. By mid-September, I gave the draft to a business
teacher; he explained how I could make it better. I further changed it and presented to all three business teachers
in my school by the beginning of November. I teamed up with a friend to film an assembly video to show
companies that we are capable of filming high-quality videos.

ProVid Productions aims to abate the inconvenience of the self-assembly of products through replacing text-based instructions with professionally made, high quality instructional product-assembly videos. Furniture and other assembly-requiring products are becoming simpler, more elegant, and more beautiful. However, text instructions with low-quality images and hard-to-understand procedures, which have been in the market virtually unchanged since the invention of the printing press, undermine the simplicity and elegance of the product being assembled.
Watching a video has been found to be simpler and more user-friendly than reading instructions. As a matter of fact, while only 10% of information is retained through pure text, 65% percent of information is retained through visual-based learning. 71% of consumers agree that videos are the best and most efficient way to depict information as well as display a product and explain its features. Therefore, having a complementary or independent video will help companies sell their products and make it easier for customers to assemble the products. By improving the user experience of consumers, ProVid will increase online ratings and therefore overall sales of any given product.
